Our Story — A Traditional Devon Pub in Elburton
The Ships Tavern has stood at the heart of Elburton for generations. Today, alongside The Wheel House restaurant, it continues to be a place where the community gathers.
Our building has worn many hats over the years — from a traditional Devon longhouse to a local landmark on Arcadia Road. It has always been a gathering place, and it always will be.
The Ships Tavern is proud to be a community pub: somewhere for a quiet pint by the fire, a Friday night with friends, a Sunday roast with family, or a place to raise a glass in celebration or remembrance.
The Wheel House was added as the venue's dining room — a slightly more refined space inside the same building, dedicated to good food, generously served. Both share the same kitchen, the same team, and the same welcome.
We're grateful to our regulars, our neighbours in Elburton and Plymstock, and every visitor who's found their way to us over the years. Come in, pull up a chair, and stay awhile.
